Sweden's eighth funniest comedian

A unique mixture of one-liners and Scandinavian-tinged stories has earned Olaf the purely fictitious title of 'Sweden's eighth funniest comedian'. His recent exploits include supporting the equally moustachioedTony Law and managing to beat the Comedy Store's infamous Gong.

Omar Hamdi

‘The Welsh-Egyptian headliner delivered non-stop laughs’ – Surrey Life Magazine

‘Slick, classy and very clever’ – Worthing Herald

‘Comedian Omar Hamdi co-hosted the event with Miriam Clegg (wife of Nick) – his skills were amazing, beyond our wildest expectations.’ – Ernst & Young

Currently appearing as tour support for Ava Vidal (star of Mock the Week and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow) on selected dates of her national 2012-2013 tour, Omar Hamdi is known across the country as one of the hardest-working and distinctive rising stars of UK comedy.

Omar is performing regular opening 20-minute sets and compering in clubs of all sizes, and regularly headlines smaller clubs. He has hosted corporate events for Ernst & Young, Oxfam and the British Heart Foundation, amongst others.

Currently preparing for his first full run at the Edinburgh Fringe, Omar is unique as a high-energy, affable Welsh-Egyptian comic. His intelligent yet accessible act delivers non-stop laughs from culture clashes, media and social commentary and personal political insights.

Omar has received unsolicited offers of screen tests for well-known TV productions, and it is surely a matter of time before he becomes a favourite on our screens as well as on the comedy circuit.

“Really good tour support. Omar Hamdi has a work ethic I have only seen in acts like Sarah Millican and Jimmy Carr – he will go far! Lovely feedback - quite a few emails mentioning him”- Ava Vidal (star of Mock the WeekMichael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Let’s Dance for Comic Relief)

“Omar Hamdi is an absolute natural”- Adam Bloom (star of Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Mock the Week)

“I really like Omar Hamdi’s work, specially the way he deconstructs and subverts what most ethnic comedians do, and surprises an audience.”- Mitch Benn (Bremner, Bird and Fortune; The Now Show)

“Omar Hamdi’s really good. At first I thought ‘Oh no, not another Welsh-Egyptian comedian!’ But he’s really good.”- Ian Cognito

"A very slick set. Equal parts hard-hitting and daft. Punchy, imaginative material and an intense stage presence. A very strong package." Chris Head, Comedy Producer / Director
